CIMMYT and Belgium

Belgium and CIMMYT began working together to help reduce poverty and improve food security in 1987, under a six-year research network funded by the Belgian government to reduce seedborne bacterial diseases of wheat in Mexico, South America, Zambia, and parts of Asia. Outcomes included methods to eliminate pathogens from seed and enhanced disease resistance in wheat.
