We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate for the position of Tractor Driver to be based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
This is a nationally recruited position and is open to all Zimbabweans with excellent academic records and relevant experience. The incumbent will assist the Research Station Manager to ferry labour from UZ Farm to CIMMYT Research Station on a daily basis and conduct general farm operations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Labour Transportation.
- Land preparation, precision planting and spraying.
- General Farm equipment safe use and maintenance.
- Basic Irrigation repairs and maintenance.
- Fire safety and protection on station and around Research Farm Fields.
- General station cleanliness.
- Any other activities as assigned by the Research Station Manager.
Requirements
- At least 5 Ordinary Level subjects including English Language
- Clean Class 4 Drivers License and a valid Defensive Driving Certificate.
- At least 5 years’ experience working at a farm set up or Agricultural research Institution.
- Experience in workshop practice (welding and basic installation on a tractor).
- Ability and willingness to lift heavy objects as well working under pressure with minimum supervision.
- The incumbent should be ready to work and travel to other CIMMYT Off station sites
