The
International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dedicated and motivated
Genotyping Specialist to enhance our global potato and sweetpotato breeding
programs in our Breeding Team.
About the role: The
selected candidate will have a crucial role in centralizing genotyping
activities and improving the effectiveness of our breeding work. S/he will ensure
CIP breeding teams and partners follow standardized potato and sweetpotato sampling
and sample management workflows, and manage the genotypic data processing,
following a OneCGIAR mandate and aligning with the CIP2030 strategy. The ideal
candidate will therefore coordinate genotyping activities, ensure routine data
analysis and management, and support molecular-assisted breeding efforts,
driving our mission to deliver innovative, science- based solutions for
sustainable, nutritious food systems and climate resilience.
Key responsibilities:
· Manage sampling workflow and sample submission across breeding pipelines.
· Analysis and manage genotypic data for potato and sweetpotato breeding pipelines.
· Collaborate with CIP partners in genotyping activities.
· Contribute to prebreeding allele discovery and molecular marker development.
· Communicate research findings in global events and contribution to scientific peer-reviewed publications.
· Mobilization of research resources.
· Training local teams and partners on genotyping processes.
· Supervise staff and train students.
· Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
· Relevant experience in similar functions related to this position.
· Experience in processing genotypic data and performing linkage and association mapping and GS.
· Proficiency in R, Python, rtools, GitHub.
· First-authored at least one peer-reviewed scientific publication.
· Proficiency as a communicator with solid team player attributes, critical mind and accountability.
· Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
