The world’s food systems are increasingly vulnerable, especially in fragile, conflict-affected, urban, and island communities. These systems face challenges such as resource scarcity, food insecurity, malnutrition, and environmental threats, compounded by weak governance. Urgent solutions and investments are needed to support the world’s most vulnerable populations.

CGIAR’s 2025–2030 portfolio focuses on creating spaces for innovation, rigorous research, and foresight analysis to address the complex challenges faced by these fragile food systems. We collaborate with local partners, governments, and the private sector to integrate local knowledge with scientific research. Through cutting-edge research and gender-sensitive approaches, CGIAR guides nations towards more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable food systems.
