The Governor of Niger State, H.E. Mohammed Umaru Bago, paid a courtesy visit to the IITA headquarters in Ibadan recently to explore potential collaboration in agriculture and technology adoption. The visit marked a significant step toward strengthening ties between the government and IITA to enhance agricultural productivity, food security, and sustainable farming practices in Niger State.

During his visit, Governor Bago met with IITA’s Director General, Dr Simeon Ehui, and a team of leading scientists. The discussions focused on how Niger State can leverage IITA’s expertise and research innovations to drive agricultural transformation in the state.

Some of IITA’s existing technologies were presented to Governor Bago as part of the engagement, highlighting solutions in crop improvement, breeding, mechanization, and seed systems. The Governor expressed interest in deploying these solutions to enhance food production, improve farmers’ livelihoods, and boost economic development in Niger State.
