The session, moderated by IITA Director General and CGIAR Regional Director for Continental Africa Dr Simeon Ehui, spotlighted successful strategies implemented during Dr Jonathan’s administration to address food insecurity and strengthen agrifood systems in Nigeria.
Organized by CGIAR in collaboration with the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), Science Week aims to catalyze global action on food security and climate resilience. It brings together leaders, scientists, and partners to drive agricultural innovation that enhances smallholder livelihoods while preserving natural resources.
A key milestone of the event was the launch of CGIAR’s 2025–2030 Research Portfolio—a bold six-year initiative projected to mobilize between $6 and $12 billion in funding. This CGIAR initiative is designed to deliver transformative research in over 100 countries through collaboration with more than 3,000 local partners.
