Forging partnership to advance agricultural research and education

A delegation from Aletheia University, Ago Iwoye in Ogun state paid an exploratory visit to IITA–CGIAR headquarters in Ibadan on 31 July. The visit aimed to gain insights into the Institute’s research innovations, discuss strategic areas for collaboration, and formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IITA and Aletheia University.
In his welcome address, the IITA Deputy Director General, Partnerships for Delivery (DDG-P4D), Kenton Dashiell, expatiated on the Institute’s extensive involvement in diverse thematic areas of capacity building in collaboration with various organizations. He highlighted how these initiatives have been instrumental in guiding the younger generation toward their career paths, emphasizing IITA’s commitment to fostering talent and developing future leaders in agricultural research and related fields. Following Dashiell’s speech, the Aletheia University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amos Onasanya, enthusiastically highlighted the potential impact of the forthcoming collaboration. He noted that this partnership would significantly broaden the educational horizons of Aletheia University’s students, including crucial thematic areas—agricultural research and development, science, engineering, agribusiness, and international projects.
