Scientists from national and international agricultural research organizations will describe how DSI is being used – and will likely be used in the future – in efforts to conserve agrobiodiversity and make plant breeding more efficient and effective. Policy experts will then consider options for the multilateral benefit-sharing mechanism that will support the projected increased use of DSI in the future, and substantially increase benefit-sharing. In this context, they will analyze the ‘pros and cons’ of the options under consideration by COP 16 (following the outcomes of the 2nd meeting of the Working Group on DSI in Montreal, August 12-17, 2024). |
