The “Research & Innovation for Food Security and Food Systems” roundtable, hosted by the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT of CGIAR, is set to convene on the 29th February 2024, from 10:00 to 14:00 CET at Via di San Domenico 1, Rome.

This event marks a critical dialogue between CGIAR and the Italian Development Cooperation and Research Systems in anticipation of the Italian G7 Presidency.

The roundtable underscores the importance of leveraging research and innovation to enhance agricultural productivity, resource efficiency, inclusivity, climate resilience, and sustainability in food systems. As a global leader in agricultural and food sector innovations, CGIAR’s participation is pivotal in driving forward the agenda for more effective G7 support in these areas.

The Roundtable

The collaboration aims to identify synergies and coordinated efforts that can significantly impact food security and sustainable food systems. To foster a sustainable and resilient global food system, the focus is on promoting joint investments and projects involving G7 countries, African nations, CGIAR, and other partners, including AGRITECH and PRIMA. This event is a key step towards achieving these goals and enhancing global cooperation in food security and sustainability initiatives.

Deputy Executive Managing Director, CGIAR , Guillaume Grosso, and Director General of Bioversity International and CIAT, Juan Lucas Restrepo, will be speaking at the event.
