Red Nacional Interétnica para la Defensa del Ambiente: Desafíos y Oportunidades (Seminario Web)

Con el fin de resaltar los resultados iniciales de este estudio, se realizará un webinar titulado “Red de mujeres interétnicas y defensa del medio ambiente – desafíos y oportunidades”, el 1 de noviembre de 2024, de manera virtual, con traducción simultánea al inglés. En este evento, se presentarán los resultados del taller de mapeo de redes llevado a cabo por la Red de Mujeres.

El webinar contará con los siguientes panelistas: Fanny Howland, líder del proyecto, quien brindará el contexto y una introducción al proyecto;  Fanny Portillo, oriunda de Ricaurte, Nariño, administra la Reserva Natural de Agua los Tirapuentes y compartirá su experiencia en “Defendiendo el medio ambiente desde su territorio”, María Paula Velásquez, es la jefe de proyecto de Red Interétnica de Mujeres por la Defensa del Medio Ambiente, en representación de Fundación Natura, presentará “Cómo acompañar a mujeres líderes ambientales: oportunidades y retos para las organizaciones no gubernamentales”; Nancy Moreno es Directora de la Mujer Rural del Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, abordará el tema “Cómo acompañar a mujeres líderes ambientales: oportunidades y retos para el gobierno” y Carlos Eduardo González, es Investigador Sénior Asociado de la Alianza Bioversity y CIAT, hablará sobre “Cómo acompañar a mujeres líderes ambientales: Resultados preliminares del análisis de redes sociales”.

Este webinar busca visibilizar el papel de mujeres lideresas en abordar desafíos ambientales y de resiliencia climática en sus territorios y en incidir en políticas. Este webinar busca también resaltar los beneficios de las alianzas tanto entre mujeres lideresas interétnicas (a través de la red nacional) pero también con otros actores como las ONGs (Fundación Natura), el gobierno (Dirección de mujer rural del Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural) y la academia (la Alianza Bioversity-CIAT).

From the CGIAR initiative, National Policies and Strategies (NPS), and the Gender Platform, a collaboration was promoted between the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT, Fundación Natura, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the National Network of Interethnic Women to conduct a social network analysis workshop that mapped the relationships these organizations have in the territories.

The webinar will feature the following panelists: Fanny Howland, project leader, who will provide context and an introduction to the project;  Fanny Portillo, a native of Ricaurte, Narino, manages the Los Tirapuentes Water Nature Reserve and will share her experience in “Defending the environment from her territory”; María Paula Velásquez, is the project leader of Interethnic Network of Women in Defense of the Environment, on behalf of Natura Foundation, will present “How to accompany women environmental leaders: Opportunities and challenges for non-governmental organizations”; Nancy Moreno is Director of Rural Women’s Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will share her reflections on ‘How to accompany women environmental leaders: opportunities and challenges for the government’ and Carlos Eduardo González, is Senior Research Associate of the Bioversity Alliance and CIAT, will speak on ‘How to accompany women environmental leaders: Preliminary results of the analysis of social networks’.

This webinar will provide a platform to reflect on the progress made, the challenges encountered, and the opportunities that arise from supporting interethnic women in environmental defense, while promoting gender equality and fostering meaningful change in their communities.
