The regional workshop, convened by the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) aims to explore potential future scenarios for agriculture and food security in East and Southern Africa, with a focus on maize production amidst climate change. Key regional stakeholders will engage in collaborative, future-oriented discussions to understand uncertainties, identify key drivers of change, and develop adaptive strategies. The workshop outcomes will contribute to the State of Region Report being developed by the Ukama Ustawi (UU) initiative, in collaboration with FANRPAN and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), which seeks to promote climate-smart, sustainable agrifood systems and inform policy development in the region.
