Envisioning future scaling of clean energy business models through the lens of a nexus approach

8 August 2024 | 9:30 am to 12:30 pm | Hotel Jaypee Siddharth, New Delhi

Water, energy, food security, and environmental health are deeply interconnected. Transitioning to clean energy is essential for climate mitigation and public health, but it also affects agri-food systems and water security. Moreover, if not well done, poorer people and marginalized populations may be excluded from access to clean energy technologies and associated benefit streams.

This workshop, organised by IWMI India through the CGIAR Initiative on NEXUS Gains, will consider various entry points for strengthening a just rural energy transition. The first focuses on business models as well as financing options to put clean energy technologies in the hands of women farmers; the second on collecting better data to assess agency in energy access and use; and the third on the trade-offs between crop-based clean energy solutions and the food security of the poorest.

The workshop will bring together government officials, different civil society organizations, and researchers, aiming to initiate essential dialogues, foster discussions, and formulate actionable strategies to promote and enhance clean energy solutions that work for farmers.
