Despite past innovations, widespread adoption has been hindered by challenges such as climate change, geopolitical instability, and resource degradation. The new CGIAR Scaling Science Program aims to address these barriers through a disruptive approach, collaborating with both traditional and non-traditional partners to tailor innovations to national and regional needs. The program will unify CGIAR’s efforts across various centers, fostering stronger partnerships, enhancing market linkages, and creating enabling environments for scalable innovations. By 2030, it seeks to mobilize science, finance, and partnerships to support country-led, demand-driven food system solutions, serving as a catalyst while empowering regional and national partners to drive scaling initiatives.
On September 5, CGIAR is organizing a workshop on the Scaling Science Programat the Africa Food Systems Forum 2024 Annual Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, with the specific aim of engaging the private sector in exploring pathways for scaling agrifood system solutions in East and Southern Africa (ESA).
