The Science and Technology in Society Forum will occur in Kyoto, Japan, on October 6, 7, and 8, 2024.

The forum aims to provide a platform for world leaders in policy-making, academia, and industries to gather and discuss how to address future science and technology issues.

About the forum

The STS Forum, held annually in Kyoto, Japan, brings scientists and global leaders from politics, business, and academia together. Now in its 20th year, the forum has evolved into the premier platform for exploring the societal implications of scientific advancements.

The forum focuses on synthesizing knowledge across diverse disciplines to address global challenges such as energy, circular society, communications, artificial intelligence, and medicine. It aims to develop a vision for 2050 and beyond, emphasizing lifelong learning and inclusive societies.

The forum fosters international cooperation beyond borders and disciplines through various events, such as the Science and Technology Ministers’ Roundtable, the Global Summit of Research Institute Leaders, and dialogues with young leaders.

CGIAR participation

On October 7, 2024, CGIAR’s Executive Managing Director, Ismahane Elouafi, will chair the “Food and Water Security” session, which will take place from 10:40 to 12:40.
