The Anticipation Hub and the Global Dialogue Platform will host the 22th Global Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Humanitarian Action from 22–24 October 2024 in Berlin, Germany, and online.

This edition will focus on the theme “Mainstreaming anticipatory action: collaboration in complex contexts.

About the Platform

The focus of this year’s meeting will be on shifting humanitarian efforts from reactive to proactive measures, using forecast-based triggers and pre-planned financing to provide timely and cost-effective disaster response.

The recently published report, “Anticipatory Action in 2023: A Global Overview,” highlights significant progress, with 12.8 million people assisted in 2023, up from 3.6 million in 2022, through anticipatory actions supported by $198 million in funding. However, challenges remain in scaling these efforts, particularly regarding funding and implementation in fragile and conflict-affected areas.

The platform will gather experts from various sectors to explore themes such as addressing compounding risks, mainstreaming anticipatory action into national systems, and enhancing collaboration among local, national, and international actors.
