Mixed Farming Systems

Overview

The CGIAR Initiative on Mixed Farming Systems builds on work by CGIAR researchers and others to sustainably intensify farming systems, placing previous disciplinary component research within a holistic systems approach. Initiative activities are focused on the following areas:

• Status, trends, and future dynamics of mixed farming systems
• Building methods and tools for sustainable intensification of mixed farming systems
• Participatory co-design of mixed farming systems with evidence-based, validated sustainable intensification innovation packages
• Advancing and supporting scaling of innovations
• Capacity-building for mixed farming system design and analyses
