Nelson Maturi makes nearly 300,000 Kenyan shillings (US $4,000) a year from his mixed crop and livestock farm in the Kenyan highlands, mostly from his 12 prized improved dairy goats. Like all Kenyans, Nelson invests everything he has in land and education. His regular dairy income has educated all his children. "Next I will build a stone house," he brags. "I am as happy as a salaried man!" |
