Collective Action
The Alliance is designed to enable the Centers’ collective efforts to be more effective when the Centers work with external partners and with each other in those areas where there is a comparative advantage in working collectively. The Alliance is also designed to facilitate organizational change within the Alliance when this is deemed necessary. Collective action can occur in many different forms, such as in collaborative research programs, partnership formation above the level of one Center, in capacity building, and in corporate and scientific services.
A collective action may take the form of an Alliance-wide collective action, encompassing matters of common interest to all Centers on which a common position or decision is judged to be beneficial to the interests of the CGIAR. Principles and s teps for creation and implementation have been agreed upon by the Alliance.
