CGIAR and the Media
The CGIAR is committed to working with the print and broadcast
media to make the research-for-development activities of the
15 CGIAR Centers better known, including acknowledging the
generous support provided by CGIAR members. CGIAR offers journalists
contact with some of the world's leading food and environmental
scientists working on every critical component of the agricultural
sector including agroforestry, biodiversity, food, forage
and tree crops, pro-environment farming techniques, fisheries,
forestry, livestock, food policies and agricultural research
services.
The CGIAR alliance comprises scientists working in 15 Centers
(13 of which are located in developing countries) and 64 members
(countries, international and regional organizations, private
foundations, national agricultural research systems, the private
sector and civil society). CGIAR expenditures estimated at US$530 million in 2008, represent the single largest investment made to mobilize science for the benefit of the rural poor
worldwide. |
